Sorry you're having issues, that sucks :/ Unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce your problem on my end - I quickly tried playing through as a male character and got through the "Property of Trinity College" event and into the first Harper/Claire event ("The Point Guards") by going to the quad right afterwards. Is there a specific event you were trying to trigger while playing as a guy that wouldn't work past "Property of Trinity College"? Or was it the "Property of Trinity College" event itself that wasn't working?
Problem solved. After I visited the quad and library, the hint screen told me "I, the developer did something wrong" and didn't show any hints, so I assumed I couldn't progress. But I could still activate the next scene (rooftop with Gabi) and now I have my hints back.
It took a little hiatus as I dealt with some family stuff, but it's still being worked on.
No, there is not futa content. There will be an option to play as a non-binary character with a penis in a future update, so...I don't know, I guess decide for yourself if that approaches futa content by your definition.
Okay, so after playing I can rightfully say that this game won't turn you on. It's literally a romance simulator with a few short sex scenes. That's not a bad thing, just good to know what you're getting into.
On the notion of soccer, maybe winning or losing a game can be dependant on player morale too. Not minmaxed, but certain specific games could have their outcomes changed by player decisions leading to team morale increasing or decreasing. These events will be mostly independent of each other except for major games.
Also, I'm curious as to why you didn't choose volleyball as that is the typical game associated with girls and especially in h games. But this creates an opportunity - a volleyball team could be introduced, and there can be contention with the soccer team. Maybe even some soccer team members could join it if it's a new team that starts in the next year, or you could simply have volleyball be in the time of year soccer isn't and make it an extra thing to join.
As for degree paths, you could give a limited number to choose from that are generic, like Liberal Arts, Sports, Technology, and Fashion. These classes will change the MC's personality a bit as time goes on and lead to more or less events in different places in the future (gym, Cafe, dance club, robot fighting club, etc). Nonetheless, the protagonist isn't barred from content and still retains the initial athletic personality, it just skews in different directions.
Played this, looks promising, can't wait to see more!
Also, finally find one of these games that can I chose protag gender! So long have I searched...
Are we having a discord server by the way?(Just asking, your choice)
Also, about a few characters, well, any estimated time that we can get to meet April and Autumn(Or will we not?), and maybe get to know Lizzie a little better?
And, it seemed like if we went to help Mariah instead of go do stuff with Aarya, we won't get the scene, so, we can still get chances to interact with her(Don't know how though, looks like she and the protag are in different schools), right?
By the way, will there be major path divergence choices(or something like that) in game? And the soccer(Looks like the school is set in the US and the games uses it anyway so I will go with it) that occurs every week, will there be anyway that we would get to influence whether we win or lose? Or it will all be random? Also, would that play a major path eventually?
"MAN, I really talk a lot sometimes" you're talking to someone who talks so much I wrote a whole game - you're in good company lol
I'm glad you're enjoying! There's technically a discord server, but it's not in use. I figured I'd wait to see if the game got an audience before really diving into it. So TBD on that!
April and Autumn are going to be Chapter 2 characters, so you'll meet them in Spring of the school year, along with a couple other new characters!
You will absolutely get to know Lizzie better - she becomes more involved in v0.03 :D
You'll totally still interact with Aarya moving forward - her first solo event is also going to be in the upcoming content update, v0.03! Your interactions with her will vary slightly depending on what choice you made at the party, but ultimately, choosing one way or the other doesn't stop you from forming a relationship with Aarya.
There will be path divergences for some characters, specifically within the development of your relationships with them. For example, whether you choose to help Mariah at the party or go home with Aarya impacts your relationships with the people around you - Mariah, Caitlin, Aarya, etc. - but that won't really impact the overarching story. The story itself will be pretty much the same no matter what choices you make, though specific conversation pieces and side events will vary depending on the choices you make (though only the big ones, which don't happen that often, and I think it'll be pretty clear when they matter).
On the topic of soccer, good question, potentially complicated answer. For right now, the wins and losses are pre-determined and happen automatically once you complete a certain set of events (the Hints screen should walk players through how to get further in the game and trigger the next soccer game on Saturday mornings). I have ideas about what the soccer season will look like in Chapter 2, but I haven't made the final decision on whether your choices will impact the outcome of the bigger games later in the story. On the one hand, I think it's fun to give the player agency and reward them with success if they "play well". On the other hand, I don't want people to be 8 hours into playing and realize they didn't get enough points in some random category and now they can't win a big game or something. Because that would frustrate me as a player. It may play a part later in the story, I haven't gotten that far out in planning the details yet. I have a rough outline of the rest of the game, but that decision is still a ways out in development lol. Chapter 1 probably won't even be finished until like March. I'll probably make a decision on that stuff then!
So the TL;DR is "right now soccer games are all pre-determined, but that may change in the future if I can find a way to make it feel both fair and rewarding".
How many romanceable characters is tough to say exactly - most characters will be romanceable in the future. It just may not make sense for the protag to develop a romantic relationship with them at this moment - for example, you might be able to date the freshman team coach in the future, but dating her now would throw a pretty major wrench in things right now plot-wise. So the player will be introduced to different romance options throughout the game at different times while other romanceable character paths will already be pretty far along. I'm hoping that approach allows for fresh gameplay throughout the life of the game, as you'll always have characters in different stages of your relationships to spend time with.
As for an estimate on length, hard to say. The first chapter will probably finish with v0.05, which is a ways away still. If I had to make a wild guess on how long the gameplay of the first chapter will end up being, I'd estimate between 10-15 hours? It's really hard to say since people read at different speeds, and some people want to avoid using hints and embrace the sandbox nature of the game, so it may take them longer to get through it.
Let's assume the contacts have the ability to regulate moisture in the eye and can keep the wearer's eyes healthy and happy so they can be worn 24/7 lol. I wear contacts IRL and I can't imagine a protag having to put them in every morning, or like...dropping them on the floor and having to clean them :o
Any chance of decoupling Gender from character model at some point? Or adding a second nonbinary option for the enbys that have dicks?
Great work on the game so far by the way, I love all the characters and the writing is excellent. Only issue I have is that you have to be referred to with He/Him to have a dick.
Totally valid request - enough people have asked me for this at this point that I think I'm going to add it as an option in a future update. It adds extra work to H-scenes, so it'll slow down updates just slightly, but it seems like a lot of folks would appreciate the option. I'm thinking it'll probably come out in v0.04, so not the next content update, but the following one.
I only played 0.011 but I'm loving the timely updates since I am very much interested in the visual novel. If you're able to keep this up without overworking/burning yourself out, I'll definitely drop some support around ver 0.03
Updates will be a tad slower to come out than v0.02 was after initial release because there will be more content per update, but overall I'm trying to keep my life balanced and not burn myself out so I can continue providing updates until the game is complete :D
Okay, so I am barely past the tutorial. Morning on Wednesday with Charlie right now and just, wow. Honestly, I am not one for heavy reading considering the adult tag haha, but this one is just different. I am absolutely loving this so far. The writing is fantastic, the personalities of each character I have interacted with thus far feels genuine and unique, the wittiness of the MC actually makes me laugh, and the music choices are top notch. I am obviously writing this very early and will have to update it but I cannot commend you enough for how well you have pulled me into this story in such a short time, especially considering I am not really a fan of organized sports. I can tell with my interactions with Harper and Charlie that you put some serious thought and time into how you want these characters to feel as real and personable as possible and I already LOVE those two. The banter I have had with them is fantastic. I am seriously looking forward to the updates to this game. Also, being able to choose a gender is a very nice touch and I understand that it will leave TONS of extra work for you/your team to write and animate, so please take your time and don't let comments of people begging for an update (even though I may be one of them in the future hahaha) push you into releasing something that you don't think matches the quality of what you already have here.
I do wonder though, is there a specific order that I should do classes or spend my afternoons/weekend? I know the tutorial made it seem like there wasn't but I just want to make sure I am not doing anything super out of order.
Thanks for trying it out, glad you're enjoying! Honestly, I'm not hugely into organized sports either (outside a few e-sports), but a team environment always seemed cool to me from a storytelling perspective.
Don't worry about what order to do stuff in - currently there isn't anything you might miss if, for example, you don't have a certain affection level with a certain person before an event. So how you spend your time is your choice! There are totally events locked behind certain prerequisites, but you'll never *miss* one by "spending your days the wrong way", since that's something I've never liked in other games. And if for some reason my stance changes on that, I'll probably put it in the patch notes as a heads up.
Not sure if you're active on f95Zone, but i left a review there, so i'll post it here too. Wall of text inc:
A largely promising first release. Quite a considerable amount of content for a first release too, if that's what you're looking for. Onto the game itself:
Story: You're joining a football - not soccer, sue me - team, and get appointed as co-captain. Simple enough, but what i didn't expect was for me to actually feel joy when the Lions (team's name) won a match, and sorrow when they lost - gave me a weird sense of patriotism for a fictional team for a sport that I honestly never cared for.
And there's the whole 'Chekov's gun key' situation seems like i'd be brought up again, and i'm hopeful to see the outcome.
Characters: When writing a story, it is vital that the characters are done right. This is even a point brought up in an event with one of the characters. The characters that are here feel... human. They feel as if they serve a purpose, with their distinct personalities. Sure some can feel 'token' but I feel as if there is room for growth and development.
Grammar/language: The dev is clearly a native English speaker - or has a proofreader worth their salt. I can't remember seeing any grammar inconsistencies, miss-spellings, or anything of the sort. It was well written, not just grammar wise but the colloquialism of conversation was a breath of fresh air, from many VN's that use over the top - advanced language, that people wouldn't use in day to day conversations. If i had a pound for every time i'd read the word "moreover" in other pieces of writing. Seriously, has anyone ever used the word 'moreover' when speaking to someone before?
The naughty stuff: It's there. Somewhat. It's a first release, so i didn't expect to see every character with their legs behind their heads, and that's a good thing. Any good character needs thorough introductions before the time comes for their inevitable introduction to the MC's jackhammer. Obligatory dream sequence was present, as is a staple, though forgiveness points are awarded as the character in the dream made me laugh quite a few times.
I'm rambling. Anyway, tl;dr for those that don't want to read my short novel: Promising first release with a decent bit of content to start. Characters with development, personalities and room for growth. Grammar is largely perfect with great writing to go along with it. *bonk* scenes will follow in future updates, character/relationship building (rightly so) needs to happen first.
...makes me wonder why i didn't just start off with that.
Thanks for playing and for your review! Really glad you're enjoying. Unfortunately, I'm American, so if I called it football/futbol I think I'd get some strange looks from my friends who play the game lol.
Checkov's gun/key will be followed up on in the v0.02, coming soon :)
Seeing weird "formal" language in a VN kills me...like, I don't want to talk to a posh English robot, I want to talk to a human being. Glad you're vibing with the writing!
Understandable. The best outcome was the world cup deciding the argument but that went out the window 💀.
Good to hear that i'm meeting with my old friend Chekhov soon.
Following on from your "talk like a posh English robot" point - Yeah, I completely agree. This is what I meant when I said characters feel human. If i'm talking to my friend Dave down at the pub and he says, "i'm going to walk up to the bar to go and order some drinks, moreover, im then going to go to..." instead of "i'm gonna go get some drinks, and then im off to...", Dave is going to get bullied. Like sure it doesn't sound as fancy, but it makes the dialogue human.
Just going to leave here that despite the game being ''short'' so far that it's honestly really nice!
One of the main thing I have to command you for is that unlike some VN's with a similar artstyle Thornwell Studios seems to have grammar and the english vocabulary down to a tea!
I am a non native english speaker myself but it's honestly so nice to see how well this is written!
I am sure this is the most random compliment given so far but I feel like it's something severely under appreciated!
So thank you for the game and I can't wait for more!
There's an option for the player to be play as a woman, so I'd say pretty much the whole game could be gay. But in terms of male characters or characters with dicks generally, no that's not something I have planned.
Since I will have to wait before I can try it do to stuff needing to get done on my end I thought I'd ask pre-emptively are their paths for being bi has a male character and or group relationships?
Or if any such paths may be added down the line, even if the closest thing would be either adding an option for some characters to be intersex or simply have both sets, or maybe using magic?
There are currently no male characters in the game aside from the protagonist (if you choose to play as a guy). I'm not planning on adding male characters with romance paths. And I'm not currently planning on explicitly exploring group relationships, though you will be able to take romance paths with all the characters individually without locking yourself out of any other characters' paths.
Also, magic isn't an element in this game, and I don't plan to have characters with changing or mixed sets of body parts.

I forgot about this one. Brother, are you still alive?
Really like this game. Hope to see it return.
who tf thought that telling how many words were in the game was a good idea (it is, I'm crying right now)
Does the game include spanking content?
Really like your game! I hope we'll see an update at some point.
So happy to see you returning to game development, I'm looking forward to your new and improved By another name even if it will take a while. :)
Not currently, because animated H scenes are a massive pain to make in this engine lol. But eventually I want to add some, I think.
IS this game still being worked on?
Yes, just took a long hiatus - it'll be a while before the next update, but it's not dead :D
Just played through this. Really liking it so far.
Thanks, glad you're enjoying :D
In this game, can I have a harem like 3 or 5 girls, or it's depends in my relationship of each girl?
There will be ways to have relationships with multiple people at once!
Love this game so much do we have a time frame for the next update?
Thanks! The answer is that it'll be a while - sorry! ♥
As a male character, I can't progress anywhere past the "Property of Trinity College" mission. Can do it just fine as a female character though.
Is this game still being worked on? and is there futa content?
It took a little hiatus as I dealt with some family stuff, but it's still being worked on.
No, there is not futa content. There will be an option to play as a non-binary character with a penis in a future update, so...I don't know, I guess decide for yourself if that approaches futa content by your definition.

Enjoyed the new update especially with Rose's comments on everything being just perfect, excited to see what's in store for 0.04!

Also, is there an estimation of how many romancable characters will there be in the end(And roughly how long would the game and each chapter be?
(BY the way... is it ok for the protag to wear old contact lenses almost 24/7... or they are not?...You know what I mean?)
How many romanceable characters is tough to say exactly - most characters will be romanceable in the future.
Hey! Not planned, no.
Good stuff, wish lizzie had a little longer hair though but good stuff anyways
Thanks for playing!
Thanks for playing, glad you're enjoying! :D
Loving this game, I love the MCs humor and the characters are not only diverse but well written as well. Looking forward to seeing the rest!
Thanks, happy you're enjoying it! :D
pretty epic
Thanks! :D
Will there be sharing or exchange
Hi, I'm not sure what you mean by that, so...I guess no? Or if there is, it isn't necessarily intentional, since I don't know what that is.
namely NTR
No.

Is there going to be any gay or futa/trans stuff?
There's an option for the player to be play as a woman, so I'd say pretty much the whole game could be gay. But in terms of male characters or characters with dicks generally, no that's not something I have planned.
meh
Hey! Anything specific you didn't like, or just not the game for you?
just not for me, good luck.
